Windows 7 officially launched in SA

Isn't the official launch only tomorrow, 23 Oct '09?

Anyways, great news all round.

Na, it is today lol. It even broke records today...

Yep, got confused a bit there. Today was the launch, tomorrow on the shelves! :D

It deserves to brake records. It's an amazing piece of work this!

soooooo seems no one bought it ... Or they busy installing :)

Installed and running smoothly. I have to say, it's much better at fetching drivers from the net than anything else I've seen.

Home Premium 64-Bit

oh hell, my bad. ok lets just say- as soon as my finacial situation grants me the right to purchase the retail, i will! lol

Well my Son has been testing Windows 7 Beta for many months now and he swears by it! By far the best that Microsoft has ever produced.

Watch Out!!!!

After placing a few calls getting a couple of price quotations (I hate getting ripped off!) it would seem the guys selling the versions for ±R1100 for the home premium edition are selling DSP versions which essentialy means you can instal it on one pc only.

After phoning the microsoft customer care it would appear that even if you upgrade your computer for whatever reason and the motherboard gets replaced you will have to shell out again for another copy. They won't issue a new licence even if you were struck by lightning!

So instead of R1100 you will be looking at closer to R2500 for the 'privlege' of being able to keep a version should you wish to upgrade or instal on more than one pc!

As per the norm MS is overpriced, and they go out of their way to screw over as many people as possible.
The they want to cry about lost revenue because of pirating!
Making the cost reasonable, would automatically kill the pirating, as they have discovered in the Asian countries.
Keep it up Microsoft you only have yourselves to blame for encouraging pirating.

Your pricing is off. R1100 is the dsp but the home premium retail isn't R2000+, its R1300-R1400.

Well if you go to the updates you should have the option to install Windows Live Essentials and select install Windows Live Mail, honestly GMail and the offline option has been my solution for quite some time now(don't like being tied down).

Matt, it might be worthwhile to get your mom MS Office Standard edition. Not sure if Outlook ships with Office Home/Student edition.

Buy it from CNA with your Edgars card, then you can pay it off over 6 months. ;)

PS : Doesn't Windows 7 have something similar to Vista's Microsoft Mail?
