Windows 7 RC1

Nope they are not, because they are all leaked builds. Not from Microsoft but other sources leaked them out. (Unless MS does it on purpose) Anyway if you want leaked builds MSDN and Technet won't have it.

I have just installed the 7057? x64 in VM on my PC, and am VERY impressed that it sofar only consumes 380MB memory..

Question is this: Do you find your current build quite stable (as stable as say, Vista SP1)?

I would LOOOVE to give it a serious go..

The punkbuster issue is not really an issue with me..

:)

a bit less than 4GB 64bit and around 2.6 32bit. I haven't bothered to check exactly but it's on the torrent sites.

The latest build seen officially was on a Microsoft employees PC during a demo, 7062. Still hoping the RC will leak around it's real completion date, and not the public May timeframe.

People have issues with 7057, read Neowin forums etc, it's not really regarded that stable. I'd wait another 3 weeks or so for the RC build, which should be well tested etc unlike random leaks.

Yea i am sticking to 7048 for now as it is rock solid, no point to keep getting ones every week with a slightly different feature :), i will wait now for RC or possibly even the full package because they need to sort punkbuster out dual booting sucks ass.

Punkbuster says it does not make files for beta software but do you think the RC will be considered not beta anymore?

No i have tried every trick in the boot on every website, it is quite simple.

Pb does not support windows 7 beta and may look at it as a hack be warned is what i read.

So the 7057 is not that great?

Ag no man, just finished DLing it from news servers.

:(

Ah man...

:(

Windows 7, I must say been using 7057 for about a week now and I find it more stable than 7048 (probably my hardware)

However there are at times where my 7057 does the most strange and random things. My WMP12 and Media Center crash for no reason and almost randomly. I even had this problem in 7048. Not to mention Windows search sometimes works and other times it doesn't.

Most software works fine and no problems. Punkbuster no chance in hell is that going to work 100% (yet)

Audigy drivers from Windows Update work but if you want 5.1 you will have to download the special tweaked drivers (which might I add work like a charm)

Also a few graphical glitches from time to time, especially using Media Player classic. The whole home groups network sharing feature does not work for me, I have no idea why but gave up and just shared files the good old fashioned way.

Compared to Vista SP1, if these glitches were not present in 7057 I would say it is more stable than Vista. However for now, I feel we have

a) Vista more stable but slow as a sloth that randomly stops what it is doing for no reason.
b) Faster cheetah Windows 7 but sometimes the legs just fall off and it comes crashing down.

Well, all Im worried about is OFFICE 2007, Stormrise and HawX.
Possibly SQL Server 2008, VS 2008 and MS Expression Studio.

:)

hawkx runs nicely on windows 7, ran the demo very well so i am sure the full game will be the same, although the demo looks about as good as it gets hey.
