Windows 7 Shutting Down Randomly

It's always good just to make sure.

Don't argue on this. Hard drive can not shutdown power.
You have to believe if you don't understand it.

For hdd diagnostics look at victoria, mhdd, hhscan.

Since I am upgrading the computer in a couple of months time I may as well start now with the new PSU and see how that works out.

Can anyone recommend a good PSU brand in the 500 to 600 W range?

Thanks for the link Ponder. I was looking at the Toms Hardware PSU rankings and Super Flower was coming out in the topmost tier, especially the Leadex models. According to their specs these models also support the low power sleep state of the recent processors.

That Leadex 750W looks very tempting for the money.
