Windows 7 startup issue

Morning all,

I have an issue here with a Windows 7 64 system. When it starts up and the user logs in, there are no icons or shortcuts on the desktop (apart from a few random ones). To solve this, I have to run a system restore and restore the machine to a previously working state. This is getting really annoying to have to do. The user assures me that there is nothing untoward regarding her log off and shut down procedure but yet this problem persists (although not every morning). We have a few machines running this OS but it only seems to be her machine that is having this problem.

Has anyone come across this and might have a potential solution for me?

Sounds like that terrible SMART Scareware is busy getting started. More here. Start by looking for those funny hidden programs in the Program Data folder.

Also it wouldn't hurt to download Malwarebytes and/or SuperAntiSpyware and give them a run on that Pc.
