Hi all, looking for some advice.

A person I know has a laptop with windows 11. It seems they installed some updates and then the laptop wouldn't start up correctly.

All of the recovery options were dead ends, system restore didn't work, can't uninstall updates, start up repair didn't work, a few command prompt options didn't have success.

Have also tried hirens lazurus windows repair.

I'm a bit stuck on what else to try, really would like to get it working back to it's original state, but worst case I guess I just want to get the files.

Any advice?

Boot back into Hirens, this time choose Parted magic linux, copy all the important files over (Desktop, Documents, pictures, etc) to an external.

Fresh install using an .iso from here

What's happening when you boot up? What error are you getting?

It was throwing a screen saying that the device ran into problems and needs to restart, the message just said critical process died. Then it would take me to the recovery options.
