Getting Internet TV outside the US

http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/07/getting-internet-tv-outside-the-us.html

Normally, Windows 7 Media Center only allows residents of the United States to use the Internet TV feature built into Media Center. Since a good portion of the Media Center community lies outside the United States in the UK, Europe and Australia this is a bit of a slight to a large number of users. Luckily, thanks to jem101 over at The Digital Lifestyle we have instructions to get it working for international users as well.

Now before we start, this is going to involve changing registry strings on a nightly basis and downloading updated guide information and packages from Microsoft. There is the potential for this to mess with your program guide or other parts of Media Center in unexpected ways. Also, there is a high chance of Microsoft changing the behavior of Internet TV to block this method in the future since Internet TV for Windows 7 is still in Beta 2.

Windows 7 USB Download Tool Lets You Install Windows from a Thumb Drive

http://lifehacker.com/5423747/windo...l-lets-you-install-windows-from-a-thumb-drive

If you're trying to install Windows 7 on a netbook (or are having issues with your PC's optical drive), the free USB Download Tool from Microsoft allows you to take a .ISO image and turn it into a bootable flash drive.

This was created not only for netbook users, but for anyone that opted to download Windows 7 from Microsoft in lieu of ordering an installation DVD. Windows 7 USB Download Tool can create a bootable flash drive (or DVD, if you prefer) from the downloaded .ISO file in quick fashion—just install it and follow the on-screen prompts. Note that if you opt to use a flash drive, it must be 4GB or larger to hold all the files.

The coolest part: Microsoft has open sourced this little app. Why, you ask? They got a bit of flak early on in the project for re-using open-source code and improperly documenting it (as well as making the program itself closed source), but true to their word that it was only a mistake, it's been brought back and declared open source for all to use. So if you still haven't gotten Windows 7 installed on that netbook of yours, head on over to CodePlex, Microsoft's open-source repository, and download the tool now.

Win 7 and downloading

hey guys anyone with a answer to this problem, i'm running both xp and win 7 ( just to see if its all that) but what i have nboticed is that when i download and use the same program thats working on xp to download from win 7 the download speeds drop with almost 40kb , i get on XP using grabit around 310kb constant but when using win 7 i get 270kb max, and there isnt any other software still running like with my xp section, any ideas ?

I am not sure that is the OS, could be the line doing something at that moment. I have used grabit on xp and windows 7 and on both platforms i max out my line at 410, even with vista. I doubt it is the OS holding anything back.

I did not see this tip, but I did not check all the links and maybe this was in Vista, but then again, I skipped the Vista era.
If your screen is full off open windows and you need to see the desktop:
Move the mouse to the right of the time in the bottom right corner and do I single left click.

I have just gone over from windows XP to Windows 7 Ultimate 64. It is very pretty and well organized file structure a ta faster than XP but... It seems to freeze up at random intervals. I'm talking total freeze no warning no error messages no BSOD just a complete seance session where I have to hard boot to get any reaction. It seems more prevalent when I'm connected to the internet yes you guessed it through a Neohell #&*@! prime USB device. Has anyone else had any similar experiences? Any help would be appreciated My architecture is MSI G13M3 Motherboard, Intel Dual Core 2.5Ghz, 2Gb DDR2 800 RAM.

Windows 7 exclusive, but achieve the same with a Win Key + D.

Best thing I can think of right now is the chipset drivers. Reason why? It just might work.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the Win Media Player 12 running under Win 7 can play DVD Movies without installing an DVD Decoder like in the older versions of WMP. I know that WMP 12 has a lot more new codecs as standard which includes .mov to .aac files.
Thanks

Yes, it can.

You'll still need vlc media player for .flv's and a couple of others though.
