I may have this wrong but it seems that the Windows 7 upgrade packages (i.e. from Vista to Win 7) are not being made available in SA.

None of the retailers seem to be offering the upgrade packages. They do have the Anytime Upgrades which are use to move from one version of Win 7 to another (e.g. from Starter to Home Premium). But for the person who wants to upgrade from Vista Home Premium (for example) to Win7 Home Premium, no upgrade package is available, so you have to buy a full package at full package price. The same with moving from Vista Professional/Business to Win7 Pro.

Everywhere else MS are offering upgrade packages at about 50-60% of the cost of the full package.

The retailers are selling Anytime Upgrades to people looking for Vista-Win7 upgrades which is not going to help them.

Is this just a supply problem or am I missing something?

Yup and it costs USD50 which I think is a rip-off. The funny thing is, all you hear is free upgrade, free upgrade until you register and they wack your credit card with $50.
Explanation: Well, apparently the licence is free...the shipping is not.

To reply to the original post....I haven't seen any upgrade options available either. Apparently they are coming in about a month according to incredible connection sales people who are probably as reliable as the store is incredible.

You bought a retail version, case in point is probably for laptops preinstalled with Vista...?

@OP: You can download the upgrade, but then you're obviously stuck without discs.

Please explain further :)
Am also stuck with the dilemma that I'd rather download it than pay for shipping, don't care much for having a physical DVD
