Hi All,

Just got 512kbps uncapped for Mweb active and got everything running. Got a Belkin 150N wireless modem router & my laptop (running windows XP), iphone & PS3 all connect just fine.
Problem is that my desktop running Windows 7 sees the WIFI network but when it tries to connect, it shows limited connectivity. Cannot ping the router and cannot connect on the net.

Using WPA/WPA2 encryption and the PSK entered is correct. Changing the SSID and changing the PSK does not work and have resetting modem a few times.

Has anyone had this issue with Windows 7? I am convinced that it cannot be the router as the other devices connect flawlessly.

Thanks for the help!

Try setting your WiFi connection's IP addresses manually, instead of automatic.

had the same issue on Sunday....run the self diagnostic thingy that Windows7 offers you , to find and correct the issue..was a DHCP or something issue....
Also ran the diagnostic tool and came up with the DNS server is incorrect/no response or something.

yes, is your router running in bridge mode? if it is setup the ip manually....so if router is 192.168.1.1 make your pc 2....

Thanks for all the help. After blood and sweat I seem to get it to connect. Seems like that WIFI USB adapters don't seem to like the metal tower casing. Used a USB extension cable to space the usb adapter about 30cm from the tower and now it can pick up signal from the WIFI modem router. Not sure if it is predominant in general for all adapters but using the belkin 150N which is pretty quick.
Now I just need Telkom to upgrade me to 4mbps since 512kbps is not quick enough. Sigh... how long does it take them to do that? Most people I hear are getting 10mbps. Eish!
