Windows 7 X64

But could the new os not be optimised in such a way?

well win7 is a major if not major major improvement over vista. running 64x both at work and at home as sole OS. XPM is just plain cool :)

Goodness....crysis warhead is a lot slower in win764 than xp :( maybe it's because of dx10?

Initially? Really does it slow down?

the internet of late has been crawling (SAIX/IS)

... i did notice that i was getting the full 4mbit/s glory (and more) when i just installed Windows 7 ... at times i got like 450kbit/s download speeds.... :D ... and i thought the same thing; how can a new OS bring such a marked improvement on my internet experience ...

Where does it give the option? Eh I'll find it thanks.

If you right click/properties and add -dx9 to the end of the target it goes to directx 9 mode :)

And I will agree win7 is win so far :)

crysis warhead was running at 30fps on enthusiast.....now it goes down to like 15fps in big areas, sometimes quite unplayable :(

Cerebus go click on games, then right click the warhead icon and select dx9 or dx 10.

Running it dx10 without doubt man, you got to select dx 9 or it will load dx 10.

None of those give me the option to run it in dx9 mode.... I can run it in xp compatibility mode but that's still dx10.

try

..\Crysis WARHEAD\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DX9

One of the biggest performance improvements for Windows Vista users is to switch from using the default DirectX 10 renderer to DirectX 9, in the process gaining quite a few FPS with no noticeable drop in image quality. To do this, you must use the -DX9 command line switch. If you have a desktop icon for Crysis Warhead, then right-click on it, select Properties, then at the end of the Target box, one blank space after the last character, add -DX9. It should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis WARHEAD\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DX9

Alternatively, if you use the Games Explorer launch icon for Warhead, then you can right-click on that and select 'Play DX9' to launch the game in DX9 mode. If you want to always launch Crysis Warhead in DX9 mode just by double-clicking the icon in Games Explorer, then right-click on its icon, select Customize, highlight the 'PlayDX9' item and click the 'Move Up' button at the top right until 'PlayDX9' is at the top of the list, and click Close. Now the game will automatically run in DX9 mode whenever the icon is double-clicked. You can do the same for Crysis Wars.
