Windows 8.1 frustrations

Kept forgetting to reply to this thread. I managed to sort it out.

I noticed there was a weird issue - when I tried to log on immediately when the laptop booted up, it would give me the errors, however, if I left it for a few minutes and then tried logging in, it would work without fail  I then found out that I can auto login to Windows without having to type in a password. As soon as I did this, the issue went away. I suspect there was some weird bug with the signing in. All is right in the world again.

I have a Windows 8 (or 8.1) issue but I don't see the need to start a new thread, so here goes...

I recently set up a new system here at the office for a user (system came with Windows 8) and I specifically set it up as a local account. I guess during the night it must've run an update or something because now when the user starts the pc, it's trying to log into a Microsoft ([email protected]) account. It doesn't give me an option to log in to the local account anymore. Is there any way around this?

Oh, that reminds me, I also converted my account to a local one before I tried my fix mentioned above.

@Agent, not sure what's the issue there. Try booting into safe mode?

Tried this. Anything I do though, asks me for the password for the Windows Live account that has magically appeared on this pc.

Ok, fortunately come right. The outlook.com address was luckily linked to the user's work email address. So I was able to send a password reset code to the work email address, log in to the webmail and change the outlook.com password. Then logged in and changed the account on Windows to local. Crisis averted...
