Hi, I hope this is the correct place to post this.

I am having extreme difficulties getting hold of Microsoft using the number they supplied to activate the software over the phone.

011 209 3001, I have been trying this number for a week now it just says network busy and then dies.

I installed a new SSD and cloned my previous harddrive and now i have lost my activation status and when i use my activation code on the CD, it just says it is in use I need to call above mentioned number.

Is there anyone that can help me?

I swear this is why people crack the OS.

Please let me know if you came right? I am about to do the same with regards to replacing the hard drive.

Use the Freephone.Usually works for me when I have to activate over phone.

Login to the Microsoft website and get their online support (Answer Desk)... so you need a Microsoft account.

I had to reinstall Windows and used this service twice in three months cause the phone number and online activation said my Windows is already installed on another PC.

They will fish about the problem, ask you to download a small plug-in and remote desktop to your PC... took 15-20 minutes, sorted.

Took me a little bit to find it again.

Goto "support.microsoft.com"
Scroll a little down, Click on the Windows link
On the right side of the screen you should see the "Ask Answer Desk" link, click.
Login....

Not sure if I have a Microsoft account I bought the windows from frontosa last year and simply installed

Okey it worked!!

How did I do it? Here you go:

Step 1a - Do NOT call the number, just don't, oh your a bad a$$, fine go call that number and repeat 2 48 number strings into the phone and then write down a 48 number string that a voice machine speaks out.

Step 1b - Go to: ( Thanks to @madrynn )
Goto "support.microsoft.com"
Scroll a little down, Click on the Windows link

Login....

A human will then connect and speak to you and asked for the following:

What your problem is.
Why you think you have the issue.
Then you need the installation disk and the product key on the disk and disk serial
Then they ask you random stuff to verify ( for instance, when did you purchase it when did you get the failed notice, is it oem is it win 8 or pro etc)
Then they will give you a confirmation Id
Enter it

Done! I'm activated again!

Moral of the story: Crack it, just crack it in the future :P

Ah, you got it sorted out now :) It's weird that you lost your activation status after you cloned your old Win8 installation to your new SSD. I thought it would happen only if you change your motherboard.

I also thought so, but the lady on the talk thing said that they use a combination of hardware checks of which the harddrive carries the most weight.

Apparently you can change the serials of harddrive but I assume it will be a bit more difficult than to change my mac address so not going to attempt that.
