Windows 8 Consumer Preview

I'm really looking forward to Windows To Go. Imagine: carry my desktop image on a flash drive and boot up into my regular environment on any other machine. I doubt it'll be in the Consumer Preview.

That truly is a great feature, been doing it with Linux for some time. I used a kind of work around to get it to work with Windows in the past. Using the Ubuntu with VirtualBox and a Windows Image on the drive.

Glad to see I don't have to do that anymore.

Already planning on getting this an nuking my main machine to run it...

Hope there will be direct download.microsoft.com links so that I can download it on local. (if not will someone post them here - please)

/rubs hands together with excitement

For those wondering the download links should be live between 4 and 6 pm today. Probably 4:30PM.

and what is the system requierments for windows 8?

ARM version or i386? :)

For i386, its should be the same as Windows 7,
For ARM I suspect its 1 Ghz CPU with 1 Gig of ram +, but we will not have to care about that as I suspect the only way to get an ARM version is to buy it pre-installed onto a device.

well shall download it as soon as it is launched. should fly through and hopefully install it tonight as well on machine to see if it is any better than the beta version that did not even have my GPU drivers

Just a word of Warning for the people that want to use this as their native OS.

If you use your PC for gaming, you might want to hold on a bit, Even with Nvidia's latest driver installed on Windows 8 Dev Preview some games do not work properly. So it might be something to consider.

Also on my laptop it failed to get the HDMI to function.
