I have never installed manufacturer drivers for any of my external storage devices, seems a bit outdated if the OS needs this, I think the last time this was a requirement was on Windows 98.
Just a heads-up for those who are using TeraCopy:
TeraCopy is flawed in that it fragments files as it copies them. I recommend using the software KillCopy instead.
I've been using TC for years- this is the first I've heard of this. I've not noticed fragmentation being an issue. Got any sauce? I'll have a quick Google too...
Fragmentation is a legacy issue, not as important today as it was back then, computers are fast enough today and SSDs do to need defragmentation. The performance degradation is minmal compared to the old days where things clunked along and every little bit of optimizing helped.
