I still bet you that Android devices make more phone calls than Windows 8 PCs any day of the week.

I thought most Android devices were smartphones. You know. Phones that can do web browsing, downloading apps and doing web based stuff with them cool apps like tweeting, instagraming and Facebooking. I also heard there is G+'ing. Don't know if thats what they call it. Stuff I can't do on feature phones. i.e stuff other than making calls and sending sms's.

Stuff that 75% of the 1.3 billion smartphones do should generate more web traffic than 4million Win8 PCs.

I also heard that you can't use Google maps without the Internet. That surely should generate some kind of web traffic.

There is a difference between can do and must do. My phone can browse the web, doesn't mean I am forced to do it, esp when I am sitting at a PC/desk. My desk PC does have a problem making phone calls, esp seeing that my Office PC does not have speakers or a mic.

The only site that offers Windows 8 stats (called NT 6.2)

A whopping 0.32% of all traffic browsing Wikipedia uses Windows 8.

Assuming that the article is correct the significance is not in Windows 8 overtaking Android on traffic it is inevitable as the flagship desktop (so home computer, workstation, media pc) from Microsoft but rather that it happened so quickly. This defies suggestions that the PC market is dying.

As I see it the trend is going to be Windows 8 excluding RT is going to have orders of magnitude more traffic than the combined effort of all mobile devices and tablets - including RT for quite some time but that Android will serve more users than Windows and in fairly short order users will spend more time on Android than on Windows platforms combined.

Really? Can one be so locked up in a OS fantasy that you cannot even see how ridiculous that reply even is. I'm dedicated Linux fanboy, but this takes the cake.

Google maps, really? I do upwards of 10Gb a day of normal web traffic (not many downloads, no torrents - mostly YouTube), how on earth is ANY smartphone or tablet going to compete? Just downloading one Windows 8 patch, for example, will generate more web traffice on microsoft.com than all the Apple and Android devices do in a year, combined.

Like mentioned, if you want to pull stats next time, make sure they are relevant and also correct.

This is like me saying there are no, not a single Windows 8 update being rolled out of Android Play Store, so Windows 8 MUST be non existent. Ridiculous.
