So I downloaded, and then installed windows 8 onto my laptop. I have a Dell XPS L502X Notebook:

Intel Core i7 2630QM, 6GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM, 500GB 7200RPM HDD, Nvidia GT 525M 1GB DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 3000.

Installing the Operating System took 1 Hour (I chose the upgrade option where it keeps your files, settings, programs, etc).

This version of windows I must say is faster than the consumer preview, and ALL my drivers work on this version (my symnatics touch pad software did not work on consumer).

Although, my computer froze when playing a song on Windows Media Player.

I think this Windows 8 uses more RAM than Windows 7. My PC would use 1.6GB of RAM when its doing nothing, this version uses 2.0GB doing nothing.

I am still trying to get used to no start button. Otherwise, Windows 8 is not too bad.

What were your thoughts on Windows 8 Release Preview?

Apart from the usual gripes with metro it's a nice change - the windows and borders UI are a lot cleaner.

Still having issues with my AMD gfx card though - where I'll get artifacts/glitches all over the screen (thin lines just randomly appearing). Had the same problem with the earlier 8 builds, so hoping AMD will release some new drivers soon..

I am having a problem with Windows Media Player now. Its happening everytime I use it. It freezes up the whole PC when I play 2 and a half songs. Is there another media player that looks nice and organises music, video's, etc. like windows media player?
