Windows 95 launch

20 Years ago today. Can anyone remember if it came out on the same day in SA? I remember installing it with my dad and then trying to troubleshoot trumpet winsock and modems issues, we finally got it going at about 3am.

If I remember correctly Windows 95 was launched world-wide simultaneously.

Also Microsoft bought the entire edition of the London Times, and gave it away free to advertise Windows 95. Apparently MS wanted the entire front page and when that was not possible, they bought the entire edition.

Apparently the marketing campaign cost more than $300 million. Hectic !!!!

I also remember struggling with modems and the internet. Was a lot easier when the Plus Pack for Win 95 became available.

I have a desktop and laptop still running W95. Have the installation on CD and stiffy. Just wish I can get a proper mouse for my desktop. PS/2 drivers suck.
