Hi all

I'm looking for some freeware, open source or low-cost software to install on Windows (7+) that will backup selected folders to a network drive (NAS) - the server is already setup and available. This software should allow for versioning and recovery to said version.

I'm not looking for imaging software.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

EMC networker , Attix Backup Pro - Not sure about the versioning tho... If google cant find results, Ask Chuck Norris ;-)

Google keeps throwing out imaging suggestions. I've looked at Genie Timeline as an option.

Robocopy or Acronis Back and Recovery or Paragon Back and Recovery - Genie seems like a good option and seems cheap but does it provide versioning?

Also this is completely free - SyncBackFree V6 - http://www.2brightsparks.com/freeware/freeware-hub.html

http://sourceforge.net/projects/freefilesync/

https://www.ascomp.de/en/products/show/product/backupmaker/tab/details

And there is also XXcopy and its command line, similar to robocopy

I haven't dealt with versioning...

Hope the above links help.

Genie does provide something called TimeLine, though I'm unsure as to how good it is.

Thanks for the suggestions, will check it out.

NAS with ZFS file system.

You can then do snapshots at whatever interval you want and recover to / from them.

You can also mirror the snapshot to a second NAS and have that go live if the first one burns down...

Yes, I already have a NAS in place. What I need is the software on the client side to allow them to schedule their own automated backups of their local filesystem.
