Windows File Transfer not working HELP HELP

I tried searching for the driver on the net but it does not seem to work. After searching the net it asks for the CD that came with the card. The card is integrated with my motherboard. I also tried uninstalling the faulty controller and restarting but it just opens the "New hardware found wizard" and doesnt finish the installation because no driver can be found.

I've used it before because my little brother once had a friend over and they played Call of Duty 2 over the LAN.

OK, (I assume this is the desktop machine)....

can you see a model number screen printed onto the mainboard motherboard somewhere? Can you give us all that info?

Read here...

then we can identify the exact driver you need.

As soon as I am back home I will check the model number and post all info here. I am currently out of the house.

Will it not be easier to just get a new Network adapter?

OK, yes. that is fine.

It's up to you... Network Adapters are up to R150.00

If you are willing to spend that much?

Do you mind me asking where are you? maybe one of us can help?

ok, no problem! I'm too far from you anyway. We'd have to find another noble volunteer. just get the motherboard info for us when you get home... or if you are in more of a hurry, just pick up a new network card on the way home, slap it in tonight and load the driver. ;)

Okay. The motherboard is a Intel D945GNT.

I searched Intel's site for the driver and came across one, but the driver is 100Mb big. Just for one driver:confused:?

Do you know if that's right?

This one?

Seems to be the one you'd need, though it is quite large

Yes very very large. Is there an alternative driver I can use? A smaller one maybe?:o

BTW Techie. Congrats are in order for your team.... I did eventually go to the game and enjoyed it. Very scrappy match but still great atmosphere. Well done Bulls. (You didnt hear that from me):D

I'll have a look around and let you know if I find one.

Thanks ;)

Holy crap!

That is the biggest driver package I have EVER seen for a network adapter! They threw every single OS driver all into one package. :( Stupid stupid stupid.

You can't find our original installation CD for that motherboard? There should be a driver on there.

I looked everywhere but cannot find it. Its like something in my handbag. I know its there. But to find it is the real problem...:p

lol... well now you have a few options...

1) download the package
2) find the driver CD
3) buy a new network adapter
4) let one of us download it for you and post it to you (but might take a few days).

This is turning out to be a long exercise just to back up your files!

Will this work on my board? I know its not the same model numbers but its the only other LAN drivers I could find. Maybe I should just give it a go??

Yes! They might just do the job! At the very least you will just get another yellow flag cos it might be the wrong driver... but they look like they will work. Good luck!
