Windows is triggering me so badly by doing something that makes no sense.

Quite a simple issue to reproduce but i just dont know why its going this.

Issue: I grabbed a Ubuntu wallpaper off the internet that has a res of 4096x2304 and i set it as my wallpaper, i come back a few min later and i see that the image has gone low quality. I thought i must have downloaded a crappy res one so i download a new one and delete the old one and reset it as my wallpaper. Boom, clear and fine. I do some youtubing and gaming for a bit, look at my desktop and its blurry again.

I right click on the image and its clear again, come back later and its blurry.

Here i have taken a screenshot of my desktop and you can clearly see what its doing. Not: both pictures are from my desktop, the second one is not of the source picture.

Never seen this crap in my life.
 
One solution would be is to leave the wallpaper alone. Don't do these things. :laugh: :rolleyes::unsure::eek:

Make sure the source picture is the same resolution as your desktop. I would guess the resizing might make it go funky.

Sidenote, here's a real wallpaper! :-)

Eoan Ermine was a cool wall paper - Disco Dingo is better though.

That said the dark version of the Pop!_OS 'Unleash your potential' is a great wall paper too.
Just use Pop!_OS while you're at it;)

Windows trying to scale down the original image from one aspect ratio / proportion to another and failing. Try manually scaling it to the resolution you want and select the full size wallpaper option.

Here's 1920 x 1080:

They're pretty much all great. Just right-click on the desktop, select Personalise, then go to Themes and "Get more themes in Microsoft Store". Right near the top, there's an awesome space one I downloaded recently. But they're mostly all great. If you stick to Microsoft published ones, they're free and without watermarks.
 
Got a suacey update, I took a longshot and got the image directly from my Ubuntu VM, the res is identical to the one I downloaded but the one from the VM is significantly smaller than the one i downloaded.

All is good, no more artifacts and poor res.

Always resize the background to match your screen res. It's just good practice.
 
Something to do with scaling?

I had this kak endlessly on dual display with my laptop and Outlook (their own bloody app) going blurry on one of the screens.

So? You resize the image to match your screen res. You're not going to see a 4k resolution on a 1080 screen anyway. That's only in TV manufacturer ads
