Windows losing users to macOS

Windows 10 lost desktop operating system market share in April 2020, according to data from NetMarketShare.

Windows 10 remains the dominant desktop operating system, boasting 56.08% of the total operating system market share.

Im not sure why anyone would switch willingly to MacOS.
I have been using it for the last 2 years on two mbp's and the OS really sucks compared to windows most of the time.

I have both. Windows on my Desktop and Mac OS on my 2019 MBP.

I'm used to both, and have been using Mac OS since 2000. Both have their benefits and flaws, but I wouldn't say one is better than the other. It's personal preference...

Watch this turn into a Apple vs PC war.

Is this not due to fewer people in the office/workplace environment? Most work environments use windows pc's so that could explain the decline and if you are browsing the web from home, you will be using your device of choice.

I would think the same, more Windows 10 PCs switched off in April.

This being due to people using their own devices makes a lot of sense. I my case I tried setting up for working from home and my version of Win 10 did it's "nickle and dime" thing - I would have pay for an upgrade to do some things. Ubuntu and iPadOS handled it all without any problem or requiring more money.

It's not that people are buying more apple products they are just buy less Microsoft products

With all the botched updates and all the people on Windows 10 Home. I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm more of a Windows person myself. I've been using MacOS because of mobile dev for the last year and I still struggle with it. People say MacOS is far more intuitive but personally I don't see it at all. That being said I think whatever you adapt to first you will obviously be biased towards. Windows is too different from MacOS and visa versa and if you think about the amount of years people put into using one or the other the reason for preference is prevalent.
I like the idea of open access concepts so Windows and Android work better for me. Some people like Apple's seamless access across devices and they don't want to have to configure things to work and that's fine too. I do find Apple claustraphobic and hate the fact that you need a Mac to test iOS code though.

Yeah look its a horses for courses thing really. I use the MBP as my daily driver, Im a Linux sysadmin and the native shell is really important to me.
Stability wise though the MBP is way worse than my windows machines, they bluescreen at least once a week. Its a very subtle bluescreen too, just reboots quietly after the screen goes black and then gives a small error message afterwards.
The other thing is that my newest MBP(8 months) is really hard to type on now because the battery is swelling and its deformed the bottom shell, so now it rocks like a drunken sailor when you type on it.

I worked exclusively on a MBP for about 5 years. Only reason why OSX is slightly bearable is because you can do most of your work in the terminal. The only built in apps that I actually thought were a decent piece of software was the pdf reader/editor and the photos app. Everything else is garbage.

Hardware is garbage as well. If I didn't force it to run at max fan and on a laptop cooler, the temp would spike to 91 degrees and throttle the CPU. Which is a PITA when you need to run webpack continuously.

This is why I was a very happy person when work upgraded me to a proper Linux desktop (at my insistence). Not only was it significantly cheaper than any piece of Apple rubbish, it blows all of them out of the water in terms of raw CPU performance.
