You just asked someone to give you a R900 odd OS.

Or were you referring to a "pirate" copy?

according to MS - you can't sell it - the license is not transferable. :)

It also possible to enable all the Media Center and Tablet PC features on a standard XP CD but easiest would be to use the News-server to obtain your err "Copy" ;)

Yeah maybe, but I would rather not suggest "alternate methods" of obtaining software or other media.

M$ happily made transferring licenses completely illegal as to make people buy the coding they call "operating systems" and "office suites".

Problem is you can't buy XP MCE :( If you already own a legit Windows XP CD-Key I don't really see they problem and the other option is still option, modding XP to allow MC and Tablet.

Actually, you can buy XP Media Centre Edition. I've seen it several times online (locally).

Then you are buying a copy in contravention with Microsoft EULA and just as illegal as downloaded copy ;)

What? What I meant is buying an XP MCE via an online shop. Have not checked about it's legality, but I'm not bothered. Stopped using Windows a while ago. Sticking to easy, cost-free and working... Linux, thank you very much.

Yeah I mean that as far as I know MCE is only to be distributed by a OEM as part of a partial or complete system build and reselling it as is (IE just the software) is in contravention to the EULA.

With you on the Linux, at least in terms of Media Center PC's, heard it's quite the competition to MCE at least in that arena ;)

In short, yes.
XP Media Centre Edition is exactly like Professional with the exception that it has the Media Centre add-ons.
