Windows Phone Experience

To be honest the only other phone than the Lumia that interested me was the LG G3, very decent phone that.
Do not go BB, seriously, I have a few of them in the office and they are absolutely horrible.
Between the Z2, the HTC and the G3, the G3 is definitely the best looks wise. Reading the reviews the downside is that its plastic.

Hopefully Lumia creates a Absa app the next 2 months :p

I wonder if Absa have started developing one yet?
I have the FNB app on mine and it works really well. In all honesty the only app I dont have on WP that I had on Android or iOS is flipboard. Still Weave does a decent enough job until flipboard is released(its been demoed already so not long now)

OR you can ditch ABSA ;)

Pocket File Manager is a nifty app. One place for Dropbox, OneDrive, Phone Folder, box, Google Drive, copy, and Yandex.Disk.

I use it and from one screen link to three Dropbox accounts, two OneDrive accounts, the SD card, phone internal storage, just like File Manager.

Thanks!!
That actually sounds quite good!!, one app to manage them all :-)
On my iphone the dropbox automatically uploads any new picture, probably being a little optimistic in asking, but does this app do the same?

Dunno about that app but OneDrive does it the moment you connect to WiFi

As Hamster says, WP automatically uploads photos to OneDrive, so I've never bothered to check.

Over the past few months I've migrated about 180GB of docs and pics to OneDrive and switched off the home server. Now everything is available from any device anywhere. Just tonight I used Pocket File Manager on the Lumia to share a Publisher document from my personal OneDrive repository to a Dropbox folder for a colleague to access. And soon each of my three O365 accounts (one personal, two work) will have 1TB of OneDrive. Can't imagine what I'll ever do with that.

For me the benefit of being in the MSFT ecosystem is that it fits in seamlessly with both home and work, PCs, servers, phones, tablets, etc. And it's getting better and more integrated with each passing month.

WP has a learning curve like anything else, but it's worth investing the time and trouble, and putting aside the old way of doing things.

I can only endorse/confirm Arthur's experiences being the user of the Older Windows Mobile OS to Windows Phone OS. I use my 1TB Onedrive to share files as required adding a share folder in Onedrive etc.

Being a user of the older and new OS and never requiring a Symbian/Android device in the past to fill my needs anyway. One drive is fully capable of doing the job so no need for DropBox.

The new Windows Phone OS deserves a "Bells" as it is capable of full business/private use. By the way if you do not use Office 365 your free Onedrive = 15Gb.

I have maintained the principal on my PC and Phone that if the OS has built in application native to the OS I will not use external applications or as the younger generation call "Apps".

I myself am definitely moving into the Windows Phone ecosystem pretty soon. I have Windows 8.1 on my desktop and Acer netbook. I can have most of my stuff available online and Office 365's Home Sub allows me to keep a few devices up to date with office, plus there's that 1TB of storage to deal with.

After fiddling around setting up my little brother's Lumia 520, I'm sold. Now I just hope that I can fix my finances a bit and find a Lumia 630 or even a 930 on a good deal with a decent amount of data. Probably won't be going with Vodacom either. Telkom Mobile or Cell C (Prepaid) are looking much more appealing at this point.

When it comes to your primary phone you do not want to find yourself in a situation where you are in trouble and do not have signal. In my opinion forking out for Vodacom's more superior network is well worth it. I use TM for home internet but their coverage can be pretty shocking at times. I wouldn't advise anybody to even consider Cell C though.

EDIT: Prepaid is a different story though as you have a quick out

Yeah, but considering that I've rarely been in an area without MTN reception, Telkom Mobile's roaming has been fine so far. My brother's Lumia comes with 575MB of roaming data, so he's covered for the whole month when not in Wi-Fi range.

My issue, really, is Vodacom's data prices and the OOB shark. I'm savvy enough to avoid it and Data Sense would help there, but I know those sneeky bastards pretty well. I'd only consider Cell C on a prepaid basis as well. Can't rely on Afrihost Mobile now that MTN owns it, either.

Dunno if they fixed it but I had to turn Data Sense off for Whatsapp to work. It's not that accurate anyway and Vodacom do send me an SMS if I'm getting close to depleting my bundle.

Yes, it has been fixed, it was just for a brief period when there was an issue. Both Data Sense and Whatsapp play together now.

Data sense and whatsapp do play together better, though i still find out that if you get below a certain threshold (say 20% left of a smallish bundle of say 300MB) it starts auto-blocking it. and then you have to start adding imaginary data bundles in data sense (eg make the monthly total 500MB)

You can prevent that by disabling the "restrict background data" setting within data sense
