Windows shuts down but case stays on issue...

Everything disconnected....plug in 24pin plug into mobo...connect power cord...switch on psu and the cpu fan starts immediately....does this mean motherboard of power supply faulty?
Cant find anyone who has spare to borrow just to confirm.

Too early morning. Windows sluts down but stays on.

A little bit confused
 So am I.

@Serene, mine does exactly the same, but that's because it's supposed to. I don't see the problem here. The tower must have power after you shut down, otherwise it won't restart. If it's just the LED's that annoys you, you might be able to turn them off in bios: some motherboards have a breathing mode.

Regarding auto start while in sleep mode: this is also normal, since the slightest unnoticeable movement of your mouse can cause it to wake up. Windows update too.

Only his screen turns off. The machine is still running. In other words screen goes into power save mode but PC still stays on.

I have something vaguely similar with a old mobo.... as soon as there is power to the PSU the PC turns on. Surprised the fck out of me when I tested the thing a while back.

Happy days.

Not quite...so Rebeltech informed me that the suppliers said there is nothing wrong with the PSU and it tests fine.

Rebeltech also said they will be testing it once they have it tomorrow. I know for a fact that the PSU has a fault.

So if they do test it and it's fine and with me knowing it has a fault...what follwing steps can I follow?

Cause I don't wanna send it back after 3 weeks with the existing fault (which cannot be picked up)...the courier costs are gonna kill me.

The frustrating thing with electronics if you can't duplicate the problem..... Maybe it is the PSU in combination with your system, so it would have been better if you could send the whole system to someone to check it out. Had issues with my Notebook, eventually I just gave up.

Frustrating.

I think, sell it to some schmuck on Gumtree or just keep it and buy another one.
