Windows system time lagging

I've had this problem for a while with my laptop, it seems my XP system clock is lagging for some reason and doesn't keep accurate time anymore, I thought it might be the CMOS battery but it happens even while the laptop's plugged into mains power and being used, without even being rebooted, so could it still be the CMOS battery then?

double click your clock select the 2 tabs and untick those 2 boxes

What 2 tabs? Its not set to "automatically synchronise with an internet time server" if thats what you mean.
