There was the monthly updates wednesday, now today..... nothing can access the server running win10.

The weird thing is one laptop connected wirelessly COULD still access it... but now not anymore.

I can ping the bugger fine but any kind of file sharing attempt gets a 0x80004005 error.

Oh and happily enough from the same server I cannot access the printer anymore, I would have thought it's an SMB1 issue but all servers and clients have it enabled and that does not explain why the other win10 PC's that also updated cannot access it.

Have you tried uninstalling the patch?
Checked Windows error logs?
What does net view \\computername show?
What device are you accessing from? W10 to W10?

Have you tried uninstalling the patch?
SFC found corrupt files it can't fix, doing DISM's, if that does not work gonna uninstall the latest patches.

These fixes seem rather extreme though.

Checked Windows error logs?
as far as I can make sense of the mess yes

What does net view \\computername show?
System error 53 has occurred. Network path not found.

I can see the machine, but it just refuses all file sharing connections. As if it disappears the moment I try to actually connect.

Yep, all are win10 except for the phone which also does not work.

On the device with the shares, can you do a net view \\127.0.0.1

If its giving the error then its a issue on the server. Try setup a new share?
If it works then issue from the client end.

SFC found corrupt files it can't fix
Might be all related to this.

It can view it's own shares just fine.

OK the thing finally restarted now and a few notes.

While working directly on the machine:
It does not show up in network
I can go to it's shares directly via it's network name
\\127.0.0.1 is unreachable

OK I have no idea how this is possible but I am doing internet connection sharing from the server.... but the server itself has no internet access.... and it had it this morning.

Won't have access again till monday... was this month's cumulative update it seems like.

Looks like KB5014699 but can't be sure.

The Eventviewer entries and raw log files are filled with all sorts of other stuff and I probably just can't figure out where to look exactly.
