I have a small network and would like setup an mirror windows update server on our network to reduce the bandwidth usage. We don't have a Windows Server and only Windows XP Pro system. Is it possible to run WSUS on Win XP Pro system? As I understand its impossible. Another question, is there alternatives to Microsoft WSUS that can be used? Any information would be appreciated

you can also use a WSUS server and point all PC's to the WSUS server to get thier updates. More PT has you have to approve updates for the various platforms.

DOE - read before you post!!!!!

i'm sure i've used SUS on a XP box before, not sure about WSUS though. Give it a bash.

Yes, but how are you going to get around manual install with no central server?

if your needs are not to heavy, install vmware and then install w2k3s inside it. Beware though, an incorrect setup in wsus will have your system downloading 50-60 GB of patches...

As far as I am aware not possible to install on WindowsXP only on Server OS. Anyways XP has a limit of 10 con-current connections so it wont work anyways.
