Do these updates come on Technet CD's by any chance?

They suppose too, and they are DVD disc if I'm correct.

Most of them are on Technet, yes. Not the most elegant way to do updates though...
IIRC, not all are on DVD though, you as the subscriber choose what medium you want to receive the content on, i.e. CD or DVD.
