Windows Updates

So if I have the original XP Prof cd but no SP 1 or 2. Do I donwload all of it, how can I get my hands on the server packs?

And all the updates down automatically, how can I keep that updates if I like to format my pc. Is it stored on the PC as an .exe file or is it intregated with Windows?

U can download Service pack 2 from the microsoft website ( it includes Service pack 1 already, so you wont need to get that)
As far as updates goes... Windows update dont leave any .exe files on your pc, which means you have to re-download them everytime you format... A bit of a slep
try http://autopatcher.com/ . It seems they keep all the updates in a downloadable format.

I stick to my Norton Ghost backup. Restore my backup, update my windows, anti-virus, drivers etc, and make a backup again.
Keeps that M$ virusses at bay.

You can also use nlite to roll your own install disk with serial and updates integrated,

works well.
