My friend bought new pc with windows vista home edition and he also want to go online so i suggested he install AVG after installation windows refused to run the application. why and how can I solve this problem

64-bit versions of Windows Vista won't install AVG Free. If he has a 64-bit version of Home (Premium?) then he'll have to fork out for the AVG Professional, it seems. I bought AVG Professional for my 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate and that works properly :)

The big question is: Is his Vista 64-bit or 32-bit?

Vista is complete rewirte and nothing like XP or 98 or whatever, and therefore alot os applications to do with security will not work. I even think there was an artical here about security firms having a problem with Vista and their security products not working and them having to get microsoft to help them out.

Edit will just have to find one that says vista ready? or something like that

Installed AVG 7.5 on Visita the other day... it gave the moan about not wanting to do it did not check if it was 32 / 64 - the funny thing was the reason why it came in is the system bombed out when the customer loaded the AV that came with it

rodney

I have used AVG for a while now and am pleased with it
I was thinking of getting the new dell xps 1330 with 64-bit vista
Most posts have claimed that you can only get the professional AVG

Recently saw this just today:

"recently switched from Avast back to AVG when they produced a FREE 64 bit version.system is dramatically more responsive. screens POP up with no delay.

Does anyone know for sure
thanks regards Rodney
