I wasted my time downloading the old drivers for RC2, I was wondering if they even worked properly, first time I booted Vista was just a black screen :O

I wouldnt mind some report backs in general from everyone... my WoW lag as basically disappeared... my CSS (with AA x 4) - Everything maxd on 1152x768 is hardly lagin, but XP is still slightly better...

but these forceware drivers are a major improvement over the previous ones in my personal opinion.

lol, my x1600 pro can play cssat max aa, af, and detail @ 1280x1024, which is great because my lcd only goes up to 1280x1024,

I havnt tried going higher to be honest, but there are still issues with nVidia drivers on Vista.

just to save you guys some time...the main link driver downloads ok, but the install will fail on vista x86, error message relates to "age of empires 2" incompatability.

go download the international version of the driver, using the "uk english" link or similar because this works.

Like werner said, the Normal EN-US download might not work. I downloaded this, then had to download the International (En-UK) because installing the normal driver simply did nothing.

I got no error, nothing about AOE, even though I have heard of this, but the install process simply took about 3 seconds and nothing happened.

So you say the performance is better cause I was using the 96.85 and performance in games like cs source was crud, I had to turn it down to 1024x768 with no AA and no AF and it still had a little lag every now and then on my 7800gtx 256mb

96.85 was beta software, and yes CSS was unplayable for me. Half Life 2 and WoW still worked alright.

Anti Aliasing wasnt supported and dumped all the load on the CPU as far as I understand from the nVidia forums therefore it has to be disabled.

Downloaded the drivers US ones since the international one is like 20 megs more and it fails when I say update driver from device manager and if I install, it installs and then restarts but it doesnt really install...

Note, for those not requiring the fancy nVidia control panels, 97.46 is avaliable via Windows Update.
