Hi there,

I have a E7200 Dual Core 2.55Ghz, 2gb RAM e.t.c.

Is it worth downloading XP-64bit version (not even sure what its called) as well as Service Pack 3 in terms of performance? Also if I do install the 64-bit version with SP3 how is the driver and program support e.t.c.?

Thanks for your time.
Stephen

Windows XP 64-bit isn't worth it unless you have more than 4GB of RAM in my opinion. In which case you may as well go for Windows Vista 64-bit :)

I only had problems with drivers for my tv card. Dont have XP 64-bit on my pc because my hdd with it on is not working

No win xp 64 is worth it, even with 2 gig of ram.

What an awesome OS, if it had not been for such poor printer support i would have used it as my main machine.

I could find no real reason to use it instead of x86 Windows XP on my 2GB machine, I noticed little speed differences (if any).

I noticed a huge speed increase, from everyday windows stuff to games to my work programs.

The OS is so fast its not even funny. Pity HP decided that drivers where never needed for 64 bit xp :(, plus 64 bit has just about 0 chance of being infected with a virus.

I find that vista 32 bit and vista 64 perform about the same, but xp 32 and xp 64 there is a massive difference

I'm afraid that I still have to disagree there as I've tried it on quite a variety of machines and haven't really seen a difference ;)

But, as always, the possibility exists that it works brilliantly for someone and not at all for someone else :D

i have both xp 64 and vista 64, mainly use xp 64 for those games that really doesn't run in vista like vampire bloodlines which has a known issue with vista sp1 32/64.

4gig and more ram; would be why you use these 64 critters....

Just to be clear. There is no Windows XP Service Pack 3 for x64 bit version of Windows XP.

What do you mean with:

You can't just go and download the Windows XP 64bit operating system - that's called piracy, which is actually theft.

Actually it's copyright infringement, and no one cares.

Anyway... Driver support for XP 64-bit is a bit wonky. I'd rather use Vista.

Oh, and there's basically no point if you have less than 3.5GB of RAM. Just stick with XP or Vista 32-bit if that's the case.
