I am running windows xp professional 32bit. I also have vmware server 2 installed and runs ubuntu server 9.04.

The computer specs are.

-Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2C motherboard
-Intel Pentium Dualcore E5400 2.7 GHz
-4GB DDR2-800MHz SD-ram
-Onboard sound + onboard LAN + onbard graphics
-2 x 160GB Seagate sata HDD (raid 1)
-PCI 4037A Multi I/O Adaptor for ups connector
-Silicon Image 3132 raid controller.

The problem is that sometime when I reboot the server then it will show the windows logo while busy loading but then will get a white blank screen.
I think windows will then freeze because I tried ALT-CTRL-DEL and nothing happens.
When this happens then I need to do a cold reboot.

It only does this at random times.

Any help would be appreciated.

try installing latest service pack, the CSC files also causes the computer to behave strangley when starting up. try re-initialising the Cache files, but its a trange problem, if it did it each time i would have said its a software problem, but only sometimes.....very strange, can be a RAM problem, try removing one of the memory modules, restart a few times and see if it still does the same
