Windows xp poll please

If you look after your XP system then it won't slow. Regular defrag, disk cleanup, uninstalling programs that you don't use anymore, preventing programs from auto starting with windows, disable automatic program updates (Java, not Windows), don't run anti-virus (if you know what you're doing), disable services you don't need etc. After a year my main XP VM is as quick as it was after a month of usage.
 
Sometimes things like too many damn firewall rules, too many anti-virus rules, make the thing feel slow. I run outpost pro firewall and it collects rules like it is going out of fashion. Otherwise, XP runs fine. There really is a large placebo effect when it comes to those tune up tools offering funny stuff.
 
Ja it does depend how you use it. Mine does slow down. But I reinstall about every six months.
 
Well to be honest, if I were to reinstall Windows every few months it would have to be Vista or 7. It is way more user friendly, faster to install and has better driver support "out of the box" on modern PCs than XP.
 
It definately slows down. I don't install crap all the time like some people but I do however do automatic updates. Just one of those things.
