Uhm ..... noob question here but how do you change the name of the system? As in c:\documents and settings\owner\my documents .... change the 'owner' to something else.

On my other system, the dumba$$ techie spelt my name wrong and I had to see it all the time with no clue on how to change it

Muchos appreciatos :D

Thats not the name of the system, thats the user name. Your best bet is creating a new user and copying everything.

The PCs name on a network can be changed under control->system somewhere.

.... I did that ... changed it to my nick but the path still has 'owner' in it. Create a new user? Too much mission :D

To change your name: Start -> Click on picture -> Back -> Change my name

What's so hard about changing a username? Simply copy all your files (user-based) to a folder and then create a new user. Shouldn't take you more than a clock cycle.

Are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista?

In Windows XP, click on the start button, click on the picture next to your name, click "Back", click "Change my name".
.... oh that, that's how I changed it to my nick but the path to kark still does the 'user' thing and that's what I want to change.

The easiest should be to make a new user, copy all of the user-related documents/files to the new one and delete the old user.

Create a new user, it's the only way you'll be able to change the user folder name safely, you won't loose any installed programs either.
