I have a pack of chicken pieces to braai. They are plain as in no baste/marinade.

How do you suggest I prepare them for the braai?

Get some of those Cook-in bags (Knorr?). Go through the whole process, add a little bit of olive oil and instead of then baking them, let them sit for a couple of hours, take them out, and slap them on the braai, i.e. essentially using those spices and what not for some flavor.

Depending on how much meat, you might need to use a few. Did this the other day for me and the wife using the Rosemary flavor, and it worked out really well.

Make a quick marinade:

500ml coke
Fruit chutney
Tomato sauce
Worcester sauce
Lemon juice
Salt and pepper
Tablespoon oil

Mix the chicken pieces with the marinade (a zip lock bag works well for this).

Put in bowl and cover (not airtight but just to prevent splatter) and shove in the microwave for 15 - 20 minutes.

Braai them. Enjoy.

I must microwave the chicken?

Makes life a lot easier, otherwise it takes too long to cook it on the Braai and you end up with burnt chicken before its cooked inside.

I meant you must microwave them before you put them on the Braai.

Okay thanks for that. Don;t have coke but will make a plan.

I don't pre-cook my chicken as I think it makes it stringy.

I just braai it slowly and turn a lot.

Just give yourself enough time to let the chicken simmer in the basting after it has been braaid. (About 30mins will be enough)

That marinade is fine.

I usually put them in a oven bag onto the grill to cook through and stay moist and towards the remove them from the bag and back onto the grill to brown & crisp the skin.

Don't pre-cook. Put them on the fire, turn them often. When the meat starts going brown, put some chicken spice on. When the meat starts looking tender then put some marinade on and cook for another 5 minutes. If you put the marinade on before you start cooking then they gonna burn.
