Hi Guys

I want to install an access point in our office.
The main use will be for mobile development; mobile devices to connect to the local network and internet.

We should have around 3-4 mobile devices and maybe one or two macs using the network.

I was thinking of purchasing one of these:

TP-Link TL-WA801ND 300Mbps Wireless N Access Point
http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/product_info.php?products_id=141132

TRENDnet 300Mbps Wireless N Access Point

What do you think of the chosen devices?

Thanks for the help!

Trendnet is crap compared to TP-LINK. You can also look at ASUS and Ubiquity as good brands that won't break the bank.

Not all access points are made equal. Tremendous performance variations between makes and models, even if they have similar supporting standards.

I honestly recommend this item, after having endless problems at home I spent cash on this unit. I received it plugged it in and fired up the software and it sorted everything else out. The management software is really nice as it provides a lot of info about each device.

On a normal day there are 4 mobile phones connected, 3 iPads, 1 laptop and in the evening a chromecast. So far I haven't had a single issue. It's nice and neat and covers 100% of the house that has many brick walls.

The full range is here: http://www.scoopdistribution.co.za/index.php/ubiquiti-unifi-c-101_129 they have more expensive units and one slightly cheaper one.

Deployed these puppies in a high density environment - work like a charm, give great throughput and don't break the bank. I also purchased mine from scoop.

The prices on the Scoop Website are only for dealers.

If you are an end user and try to buy from them, they will call you and explain that you will have to pay more.

I have used Ubiquity from Miro several times. Each one worked 100% and better coverage than I expected. The mounting position is important (near the ceiling away from metal objects and flourescent lights)

Dad is that you?

Anyway I have the 8 devices and a chromecast connecting to mine since 2011 without issues, my entire pozi is covered. Setup a mesh network in a 20 user office as well, we even ran phones on them without breaking a sweat.
