Wireless Speakers Connections

I reckon if you can make the remote receivers run on say a 9v battery lasting 6 months it would be perfect. Is blue tooth an option or an open wifi band like 802.11 @ 2.4/3.6/5GHZ? There would need to be security of some kind so you don't land up with interference from the neighbour if they had the same system.

Well, 433.92, 2400 and 5800 MHz are all open for unlicensed use (by SRDs) by ICASA in SA. For high(er) quality sound, depending on your modulation scheme, you'll probably need ~ 40 kHz per speaker, so total bandwidth of 240 kHz for a 5.1 system (excluding guard bands). Putting a 10 kHz guard band of either side (quite lax) gives you 360 kHz total bandwidth. Fits easily in 433.92 MHz (1.74 MHz total bandwidth).

Interference would be a small issue since I'd set it up for very low power output such that the effective range would be 10-15 m max.

The biggest challenge would definitely be getting sustained, long battery life.

So I need to get a wireless type connection to connect my rears to the amp.

Any ideas guys?

There is no such thing as a truly wireless speaker. The speaker still requires power to operate, so if you have to get power to the speaker, you may as well run a speaker cable.

Sjoe, that's a bit of a statement;)

So you reckon instead of running a 1 meter power cable to the wireless speaker goodie it would be better to pull my ceiling apart to run 25 meters of cabling?

You're not an installer are you?

I'll be honest - I don't really see what he was saying was wrong ;)

Some people may not know wireless speakers aren't truly wiresless

You asked if anyone has ideas/recommendations in your post.
You received some friendly advise that you may or may not have known.
You hit back with some cocky comment.
I said I see no issue.

Um ... no argument?

I just don't see anything wrong in what he said. You need to chill ...

About wireless, no advising me to use wired. Crikey, it really is a tough point to get through. I had already considered wired and decided on wireless, I thought the thread title pretty much summed that up.

Why do you feel that's it's necessary to add that you see no issue? Is your opinion really that important? I'd like to know as I might be missing out on something here.

Thought it was a bad day - but bad weekend, eh?

Hope you feel good soon ...

I think what I need to do next time is add a sound byte explaining what I need advice on because reading is clearly for the extremely tallented.

You really need to Google the definition of troll ;)

Someone that has a justified opinion opposite of your own, it not a troll.

Or rather not post/ask anything?

You Googled and you know exactly what you want anyway?

Someone that posts rubbish in anothers thread without adding to the overall subject, now that is troll.

No point really ... I saw someone give a tip and you got all upset

I'd be too scared to say anything to you ....

I have a better idea, how about I carry on posting and you stay out of my threads?

I actually came because we bought a Sony wireless system a few months ago and was going to add ... but had I added something you knew, you'd simply have flamed me rather than ignoring

Wow, now seeing that the thread was about wireless that would've been relevant. See, there you go with your reading ability again...

No. It would have been on topic, so most likely clarified/narrowed down to something more specific that the OP was interested in.

I thought the BMW example was quite succinct? And here we are like 10 posts later with you carrying on your b*tch fit.

*sigh*

:D

Looks like I'm going to have to offer you a bag of sweets to get the Sony wireless info. Actually nevermind, I'll find out for myself, at the least I'll be guaranteed of getting the info I asked for.
