Wireless to Router- Help If You Can

Hey

My sister brought her laptop home from res and she wants to connect to our home network. Ok, the dilemma is that the router is set up in bridge mode. I run 2 PPPoE connections from the router.

Now she wants to connect to the internet via wireless. [Her laptop does have a wireless card].

The laptop connects to the home connection but not to the internet? Is this because of bridge mode? What can I do?

Okay just some stupid questions...

So both connections are still made from the modem/rooter? (didn't know you can make 2 connections from the router itself)

Isn't there maybe a firewall or anti-virus program limiting her access?

She can access the router's and connect to it? (is this the home connection you are referring to)

Sounds like it's not being given the gateway IP address. Set her laptop up for Static instead of DHCP.
Ping around a bit.

I had a client with this dilemma just the other day. New acer laptop, vista home premium, and a telkom 100wr router. Solution to get a reliable internet connection was to bridge the 100wr and create a pppoe dial-up from vista. This works fine wired or wireless for her.

You might like to try this too.

I used to have that same router. I kept it in the normal PPPOE mode, as it has a built-in half-bridge. You need to make sure that the Wireless and LAN is set to the same VLAN on the network.

Thanks Grouter, the PPPoE connection worked! I thought a PPPoE connection could only be established if it was wired. Thanks for the help everyone
