Wireless USB

MANY KNOW ABOUT the USB ports on their computers - those little rectangular holes we use when we need to connect our printers, external hard drives and mouses to our PCs. The next step is to get rid of the wires and let the devices communicate wirelessly with our PCs.

seen some of these devices and they work well, on tad expensive side.

wirelesss usb

Hi all,

any ideas as to where i can get these devices , i have support for WUSB on my laptop :D

That's already possible with some cameras that have built-in WiFi, but Wireless USB will run at 480Mbps while WiFi only transmits data at 54Mbps.

What wireless technology exists that can transmit at this rate? Sure it can transmit from the receiver to the pc at that speed ( assuming that wifi usb is similar to a wireless mouse, where a receiver is plugged directly into the pc ) but i can't seem to see which wifi technology runs at that speed... 108Mbps is the max i know of.

errr....wireless USB...
wont that need wireless power as well?:D
cause according to me usb devices mostly get their power from the USB port itself..

*ponders*

I know. It is quite cool when you can recharge your device from the port. I only take the data cable for my phone and PSP and charge it from my laptop's port...

I don't know for sure, but I don't think Wireless USB is 'based' on any other wireless technology. My guess is it'll be short range. I think your trying to compare bluetooth to satellite :p
