Hi all :)

My current wireless USB dongle is giving me problems. Keeps on disconnecting and generally having a weak signal. It is a relatively cheap one. The modem I connect to is adjacent to my room, so distance is not an issue. My laptop with the built in wireless, has no problem keeping a strong connection.

Getting a cable through the roof is out of the question as we have converted a section into an attic. Does anybody have any suggestions for a good quality, reliable USB dongle for me? I would like to be able to game without the insane latency spikes.

Thank you :)

Are you talking about Wi-fi? For a desktop I would rather suggest a PCI card, you can put a better antenna on it for good reception.

USB sticks tend to overheat and cause the drops aswell as the wireless zero configuration service that searches for AP's after X seconds (usually 10-15pings a latency spike of 1000ms+)

+1 get a PCI card

Is it carpet all the way? Then get a long enough cable, and lay the cable underneath the carpet next to the skirting. Nobody will see it, or step on it.

i got wireless USB here on my moms desktop pc and never had problems with it works fine not sure what make it was
