Hi guys,

I recently moved to Cape Town last month and i'm renting an apartment in the Parow Valley and would like to know if it would be a viable option for me to choose a WISP or just make use of LTE? Also if I choose a WISP which ISP would be best for me in that area and what would be costs of installation?

Thanks in advance :)

Buy a prepaid telkom sim and test your speeds in your area.

If your speeds are good then you can sign for the telkom uncapped LTE deal.

I'm in Klipkop (the area between Parow Centre and Builder's Warehouse) and got between 6 and 7 Mbit with a Telkom LTE modem and sim, when I tested with a friend's modem. Connection was stable too.

I took a look on their coverage map and saw that my street is just outside the coverage area. About 1K outside of the border zone. But nevertheless I'll buy a sim tomorrow and check if I pick up LTE. I'll update when I finished testing.

Nice well that means I must be able to get atleast half decent LTE speeds as I am in that area too, I'm in Clarendon Rd, Btw

That's strange. I'm in that area (well not now) and when I was home in December I got good speeds. Forgot to do speedtests though but was stable and good speeds.

The coverage map says there should be LTE. You sure your modem set to LTE.

I'm using my phone to check for coverage, I think the phone is a bit weak. I'll try my modem later on.

Update, I got LTE speeds on my modem and took a look at the prices of the deals available. Oh my are they expensive
