Withdraw large amount

I would use ATMs, set your maximum withdraw limit to R11k (you never know you might need more cash) and draw R2k at 5 different ABSA ATMs, I wouldn't use a branch as I don't trust the tellers. Waaaaay too many stories of people being 'randomly' mugged after withdrawing large sums of cash.

Yes. It's your money. You pay them to look after it. They will give it back to you when you require. All you need do is prove you are you and make your request in writing (ie fill in a little form). EZ-PZ.

Lol, I don't think he has to go through this long process to withdraw. But yes, I think the OP is forgetting it is his money after all.

So which is it? A large amount of money OR less than R 10 000. It cannot be both.

By the way...R10 000 is only 50 R200 notes. You can put that into your wallet.

Withdrew 5k the other day from FNB, just increased my ATM limit and did it there. Cost me nothing.

Whenever I need to draw cash, I meet with the owner of the petrol station where I always fill up with petrol. They usually have lots of cash sales. You can also use the local convenient store.
I do an EFT transfer into his account and he pays me out in cash.
This way I avoid the stupid bank's cash withdrawl fees which can be very substantial.

The only drawback might be that you could land up with a pack of small denomination notes.
