WMV. HD Videos

i'll help you out with invites to bit-hdtv and hdbits

I'm currently getting Lost, Prison Break and Heroes in 720p (1.1GB). Bit of a mission but manageable (sometimes using local sources if necessary)

If you don't have an HDTV, dont bother. On the otherhand, it is worth it if you have a proper 720p / AC3 capable setup.

Ludicrous is 40Mbps or 12GB for 40 mins. Thats a bit much..

i have downloaded over 100 gigs of hi def WMV files and other content, trust me DIVX(XVID) still does better compression than WMV

wmv sucks at compression, wmv sucks at compatibility
wmv is poo!

If the 360 can play h264 then there is plenty of that available online.

Enlighten me please - Is there anything stopping one from downloading HD in xvid format and simply re-encoding it to h264?

Nothing at all - I personally use erightsoft super (http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html), it'll transcode practically anything and it can do batches of files, so you can just leave it running over night, or a weekend.

:) so guys will x264 and .mkv work on xbox if I put it staight on harddrive?

i have all those microsoft released wmv trailers

they are big

i've also downloaded some other hi def sources, which i've had to convert to wmv so they will play on my xbox, once you do the conversion you can just see the size issues
