Hi,

I am new to the broadband posting thread members :). So I apologise in advance for my lack of knowledge. I have some issues with my Huawei HG532f router which was received from Telkom with our initial ADSL setup... no fibre in our area yet:crying:.
The Internet on Ethernet works fine but the WiFi goes dead and then I have to reset the router approximately 5 - 10 times a day... What's with that? I work from home, so it's really annoying. My boss suggested that we might need to purchase a new router, was considering the ASUS DL-AC52U. What is bothering us is how this will affect a call out on breakdowns. Do the ISP's give issues if you have a different router to what was offered with installation?

You should be able to use any router for your ADSL.

As someone with semi-regular wi-fi issues, make sure it's not actually the positioning of your router, or interference from other wi-fi networks. I had my router on a bookshelf one floor down, and moving it onto a higher shelf and shifting the angle of the aerials has improved stability of the connection.

I have that modem and the support for VDSL2 with the 802.11ac, Dual-band wifi was it's main selling point to me although I am not using the wifi and only use the modem behind my older RT-N66U router. Next time that you experience wifi issues, try to switch to a different wifi channel bcs channels can get congested in a highly populated area with close proximity to other wifi users.
