So I've seen this topic come up every now and again, but there hasnt been any recent / up to date info. I'm currently in the process of setting up an online store, using woocommerce and possibly mDS collivery.

What payment gateways would you guys recommend? My biggest pain with Payfast is the user having to register / sign in before making a purchase, which could act as a barrier to payment. Are there any other gateways that would immediately accept payment from a user without the user having to sign in to yet another account?

Also, I see MDS has in integration with Woocommerce for shipping. Are there any other integrations like this?

You can look at PayU, I've integrated it for a few clients. From what I understand there's quite a bit of paperwork to get an account set up initially, but they have a woocommerce plugin available.

Will definitely look into this. Any idea on pricing?

As far as I am aware, you don't need to create an account with PayFast when checking out

That is no longer a requirement with Payfast.

We use it for our online store on a Shopify backend and it works quite well.

I used the Aramex integration a while ago and it was an absolute pain to set up with some strange bugs that I ended up having to fix myself (postal codes not matching, rates not being calculated) even though I used a paid plugin for the integration. This was all about a year ago, so things may have changed significantly.

Set up payfast with woocommerce a week or so back - no user-registration requirement on payfast anymore.

Okay cool, seems like they took this away. And what you say that you recommend it? I'm considering either PayU or PayFast, the plus with Payfast is that there are no upfront costs

Ok cool this is good to know. I see the MDS guys have a woocommerce plugin thats easy to integrate as well. I'm leaning towards this currently.

I find Payfast's fees to be horrific compared to many of the other gateways out there.

Depending on the volume of transactions you're doing will dictate the kind of fees structure you're looking to setup. Have you got a acquiring MID from a bank?

Some good gateways, in my experience, are MyGate, PayU and Peach Payments.

Let me know if you need any other advice.

Sorry for hijacking this topic a little, but do you guys know of any seamless payment gateway - ie one that doesn't require verisign or otp etc. I don't want to have to redirect to a page. If at all possible.

I'd also like to know. I'm currently using Stripe, but need to move to a South African based payment gateway soon. Wish there was something as simple as Stripe in South Africa.

Anyone used Recurly with a South Africa support payment gateway?

It's illegal now to use a gateway that doesn't require OTP, so if you want legal money, through a legal gateway, that's your only method. But most gateways offer the 1st use authorization, where a client has to use 3D secure only on the first transaction, as long as they tokenize the card so any future transactions using that tokenized card don't need to go through 3D secure. Generally you'll have to re-3D secure that card every 3 or so months.

I know PayU do this on their gateway and it's super helpful if you're expecting clients to do multiple purchases.

No, things are pretty much the same with Aramex. Same old bugs.

I'm switching my clients store to MDS Collivery.
