"Bob Woolmer may have been strangled, according to the West Indies' top newspaper.

The Jamaica Gleaner is reporting that a high-ranking police officer told them that fresh evidence had surfaced that Pakistan's cricket coach Bob Woolmer had been strangled in his hotel room.

The Gleaner quoted an unnamed police officer as saying: ""A bone in the neck, near the glands, was broken, and this suggests that somebody might have put some pressure on it.

"We are now treating this as a homicide."

Woolmer died in his room at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel, New Kingston, between Saturday night and Sunday.

The paper reported that Woolmer was half-naked, wrapped in a towel when he was discovered.

Jamaica police, however, refused to confirm the report and have repeated their earlier statement that the death is being treated as simply "suspicious" at this stage.

In other developments, Scotland yard has confirmed that two detectives from London's police service will go to Jamiaca to help in the investigation.

Police have also begun examining Woolmer's laptop for evidence.

An emotional Inzamam-ul-Haq dedicated his last match as captain and as a one-day player to his coach, who died suddenly at the weekend, following Pakistan's cricket World Cup win over Zimbabwe.

Pakistan, already eliminated from the competition, romped to a 93-run victory over Zimbabwe today just three days after Woolmer's death rocked the competition.

"This game was difficult because we had dedicated it to Bob and we said before the match 'we are down but we will get up and give out 100 per cent effort for Bob'," Inzamam said.

"The last three or four days have been very difficult for all the players and we were under a lot of stress but we came out and we did it for Bob."

Emotions in the Pakistan camp have been running high ever since Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room on Sunday. He was pronounced dead in hospital later that day, less than 24 hours after his team had been knocked out of the tournament following a shock defeat at the hands of debutants Ireland."

Well blood coming out of the mouth and vomit on the walls dont exactly sound like a natural death so Im also more inclined to think one of the cricket mad fans didn't take their exit from the world cup too well and somehow managed to get into his hotel room. But its gonna be interesting to see more reports on this over the next few days.

From day one I was convinced he was killed - because there was no letter or note found after his death. Think about it...

I was so afraid that this might be the case.....

Even his wife said on Sky News that she fears he might have been murdered.

It just makes a sad occasion so much worse..

I think everyone is hoping that this is not the case. There are just too many bad ramifications if it is so.

Well, listening to 702 and other stations this morning it has been confirmed that he was strangled. Also unconfirmed reports of an arrest being made.

Its sad.

I always taught that the Pakis and Indias match that Saturday was fixed, now theres this and the "match fixing mafia" is involved.
