There were gay kids in my school in the 60s, a few that we knew bout. Nobody cared, not us, not them
60 years later there are still only a few, and most of them still don't care either way.
The media, and opportunist politicians like you will have us believe this is a huge demographic swathe of humanity, it's not. It's a drop in the population ocean.
But I digress.
I once queried the DA on why they had no policy on abortion or the death penalty - 'that is for the conscience of the individual'.
But wait, now you have a policy that stands for unisex school bathrooms - in a country where thousands and thousands of schools don't even have toilets?
Sure, you run a better City than the ANC (it's not that the bar is particularly high), but that's not enough for my vote.
You do so well, and almost convince us of your good intentions and rationality - then Helen sends a tweet, or there's an article suggesting you have all not taken your meds. Like this one.

Perhaps our dismal standard of education is due to creating safe spaces, and diversity clubs, and purple puff-sleeves on their blazer - and not actually doing any educating!
Finally we can agree on something, except it is not an 'allowance', it's a right.

Maybe in some distant past schools were purely about teaching subject matter, but that must have been a very long time ago. Good teachers have always been and done more than merely teaching a subject. Children do confide in them. They then would usually refer the child to the school's guidance counsellor. Even the old Christian National Education schools had them. Even those macho dinosaur all boys schools usually had them. It's the sign of a really bad school if those involved think their job is that narrow, that it is nothing more than imparting subject matter. The good schools have always managed to at least attempt to make their charges well rounded and they've never compromised the quality of subject teaching to do so. The bad ones couldn't even manage to teach subjects.
