WoooooooWhoooo!!!!

Haha. I did mean that, hypothetically, had his calculation been right then the line wouldn't have shown these speeds on speedtest.net results.

I said that he was talking about syncing at those speeds, his error had already been pointed out by then and I understood it. If he was actually right about the sync speeds then I'd still think of it as a good sign, he could have been on ADSL2+ (except that it doesn't go to 30mb) trials. I realise that this is very unlikely when they are only trialing 8mbps plain ADSL.

dude... THINK about what u just typed

3,072,000
to
3,347,900

anything look familiar?
3.07 to 3.34?
how is the one 3 and the other one 33?

just wait today and you'll will see if they accept it and give me it because they phone me and asked me if it was syncing etc

fight to the end matrixweb. make believers out of us pagans.

matrixweb, are you looking for a future working at telkom? your ignorance qualifies you to be C.E.O at least or minister of miscommunications

mods delete it who ever interested pm me because no1 can just be happy for me

What's so difficult to understand? Did you do a line speed test on www.speedtest.net or even gamco.co.za or telkom.co.za?

Don't be a blind person, take the advice you are given and do a speed test, it really isn't that hard, then you'll see you don't even have a 4mb line :p

tera – you are missing what he is saying. He is saying his line is syncing at circa 33mbps. However his profile has not been upgrading yet to utilise the full speed. Therefore he expects to get close to 4mbps on speedtest.net because that is what his profile is currently set at.

You can sort of compare it to my 4mbps line that is syncing at 4mbps but is only running at 512kbps. Well it would be the same if his line was actually syncing at 33mbps.

You dont get it, his syncing below a normal 4mb link, yet he thinks he syncing in the region of a 24mb lines.

1. 33mbps sync is impossible
ADSL2+ maximum is 24mpbs

2. the maximum of 24 mbps is only available, if line length is < 300m

3. It is possible, that he is on a ADSL2-port.
But that implies NOT a higher sync, if he is still on a lower profile.

4. ADSL2+ supports rate adaptive sync
If he has a 4 mpbs profile and his line is too bad for 4mpbs, DSL-modem/router and DSLAM will autmomatically negotiate the maximum possible bandwith to sync.

This has the advantage, that he must not downgrade to a 512k profile, if 4 mbps are not possible.

A wavering sync is normal.

LOL. Vodacom doesnt even have 7.2 MB/s Towers - But I see 7.2 MB/s on my connection settings.

*Whimper* I will NOT do a speedtest, I know I have 7.2 MB/s.
If you don't believe me, i will upload a screenshot.
Mods delete my post, others that are interested PM me.

You should see my 56K line - I got it hacked, now I can set my speed in Windows!

I cant help but laugh at this thread :D

Ditto! :D :p

WOHOOOO I just connected a PPPOE connection on my pc and I am getting 100.00Mbps!!!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO I'm gonna phone telkom and ask them if I can keep this speed!!!!!! And no I will not do a speed test until telkom says that I can

Shame, poor you... mine is 1Gbps :D

ROFL

AHW I hate it when i come late for posts like this!! :)

Anyway my 2c I agree, he misread the sync speed bps vs kbps. Next even if he was syncing at 34 what ever mbps it would make no difference on speedtest.net or any other online speed calcs, SO STOP ASKING FOR IT, ;) syncing at a speed and getting the speed are very different things! The isp will need to provide him with access at those speeds, and telkom would have to allow him to connect at those speeds at the dslam...

The fastest speed I have seen from an adsl line was 8mbs, a closed trail at telkom.

which is exactly what i said. let me repeat:

1. He thinks he is syncing around 33mbps.
2. He thinks that he is not getting 33mbps actual speed because his profile is still set to 4mpbs although his line is syncing at 33mbps.
