Word 2010 question

Hi there,

When we travel we need to fill in three forms in word (normal document). I want to make it easier to fill in the form.

For example.... The date needs to be on several places in the document. Is there a way to type the date in once, and it gets replicated throughout the document on the relevant places ? something like the =A1 in excel

Ive tried the bookmark function with fields, but you have to update every field to show the new dates ? any way of doing this automatically ?

Excel is sometimes better, you can set up your forms to print correctly and on one worksheet you can have the three tabs for the three forms. Excel will also allow you to automatically copy the data to the other cells. Just my 10c

Insert the current date and time
Click where you want to insert the date or time.
On the Insert menu, click Date and Time.
If you want to insert the date or time in a different language format, then click the language in the Language box.
The Language box includes a list of the enabled editing languages. Additional date and time options may also be available, depending on the language that you selected.
In the Available formats box, click a date or time format.
Select whether you want the date to automatically update or to remain as originally inserted. Do one of the following:
To insert the date and time as a field that's automatically updated when you open or print the document, select the Update automatically check box.
To maintain the original date and time as static text, clear the Update automatically check box.

Alphabyte is right in using the insert date and time function but I also see why you would like to update dates once and have other parts of the document reference them.
Have you considered creating a form in Word? I found this tutorial on it which may provide the answer that you are looking for.
