Wordpress and google maps

I am new to this and need to create a website (blog type) with a custom google map inside. For eg. an advanced list of restaurants on an interactive google map- fully indexed, searchable etc. I was thinking of using wordpress with some plugins, but have no idea if this will work? Can anyone shed some light ? Also what cheap/reliable local options are there to host wordpress ? tia

Are u set on WP? there is a nice Joomla plugin called SobiPro which is perfect for what you want. Check out http://www.sigsiu.net/sobipro.html however if your main aim is more blog type then Wordpress is probably better and I am sure there are a few wordpress plugins for your needs... let me know what you think of SobiPro.... there is a demo...
